Being smart and eco-friendly on the slopes at the same time is not only possible – it’s THE thing to do. Adopt a green attitude and take care of the mountains which offer you the sheer pleasure of skiing, starting with your shopping sprees! Of course, looking classy on the chair lifts is vital, but if you can do something for the planet at the same time, go for it!
Go for innovative clothes!
Even if eco-friendly fashion has until now been the preserve of a handful of ultra-committed “greens”, it has now pervaded nearly all the big brand-name collections. Inevitably, winter sports clothing has also been affected, which is all to the good! Organic cotton, chlorine-free wool, hemp or even recycled polyester is now used in this. Slowly but surely, “eco-fibers” have taken off on the slopes to offer us more responsible skiing. Whether it’s with ski suits free of PVC, environmentally-friendly woolen hats or socks, you can now be “green” from head to foot! Lafuma, Sherpa, Salomon or Patagonia all sell organic, warm articles that are also eco-friendly, stylish and in synch with the latest technology!
Adopt a “green” attitude!
Of course, conserving the planet is not just a matter of buying yourself an ultra eco-friendly ski outfit, although that’s a very good first step! Obviously once on the pistes, we have to continue as we mean to go on and get into the “let’s protect the environment” mood. We sort our rubbish, leave the car in the car park, buy local produce rather than fast food, and we invest our money in sustainable skiing equipment! Hyper eco-friendly skis and snowboards made of bamboo or FCS wood, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, are of course are already on the market! To put it plainly, there is no excuse now for not taking care of our natural surroundings!
